Laura Denison began
sewing as a young child making clothes for her dolls from her mother’s
scraps. In college she made two quilts as part of an independent study
sculpture project, one of which was purchased by the university. Ten
years later, Laura joined the quilting craze in 1993 and it quickly
became a passion. She began teaching in 1997 to share her enthusiasm and
her quilting designs. As an award winning quilter, she has exhibited
quilts in several local and national quilt shows.
Laura is best known
for her “bag” designs. With degrees and work experience in both
architecture and interior design, it seemed only natural to her to
design quilting in 3 dimensions. She has delighted students for the past
ten years with over 25 different purse, tote, pack, and pouch designs
(with at least twice as many waiting in her head!). Her quilts look
complex, but Laura has simplified the piecing. She began publishing her
bag and quilt patterns in 2004.
Laura lives in Maple
Valley, Washington with her husband, Rich and two children, Trevor, 9
